Automatic Backlink Tools

Ping.fm
Ping.fm is site that lets you update over 30 social network and web 2.0 sites (including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, Tumblr, Blogger.com, WordPress.com, Fickr, Typepad blogs, Ning, identi.ca, Friendfeed, Brightkite, Multiply) at the same time. Input your message at Ping.fm and then “ping” it to all the sites. Some sites have a 140 character limit like Twitter so you can only post status updates with URL links. Others let you make blog type posts with anchor text backlinks.

Twitterfeed
If you enter an RSS feed at twitterfeed.com will update multiple Twitter accounts, status.net sites, Facebook and Hellotxt.com accounts when ever that feed is updated. Since this works from an RSS feed you can use to announce updates on your blog, YouTube Channel, Twitter account, Tumblr or anything account that has an RSS feed.

Posterous
When you update your Posterous account you can have it automatically syndicate the posts to web 2.0 sites including Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, WordPress.com, identi.ca, Blogger.com, LiveJournal and Xanga. You can even update Posterous via email and trigger the syndication process.

Hellotxt
Hellotxt is similar to Ping.fm in that you can update many social networking sites and web 2.0 sites from one place. You can update over 50 social networks and web services. You can use twitterfeed.com to update Hellotxt automatically when you update your blog or any other site with an RSS feed

Lifestreaming sites

Lifestreaming sites aggregate many of your social network and web 2.0 sites in one place. Basically you can add your accounts like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Delicious, Flickr and many many more and the lifestream site will pull all updates from any of those sites to that site with provides a backlink to our accounts and your updates (basically backlinks to your backlinks on auto pilot).
There are a lot of lifestreaming sites. A few of the more popular, high Page Rank, ones include:
  • Friendfeed – you can create groups to get even more links and exposure
  • Iminta
  • Plaxo
  • Profilactic – supports almost 200 sites
  • Soup.io – you get a sub-domain URL with your account name
  • Identoo – creates a new page for each entry in an RSS feed. Go to my account, add blog url (not feed) to the auto discover profile url section.
See our compete list of lifestreaming sites.

WordPress Plugins

There are also some WordPress plugins that will syndicate your content, update social networking sites, create RSS feeds and submit RSS feeds to RSS directories automatically whenever you update your blog.
Be careful with these plugins if you to a lot of “updates” to blog posts. Each time you update a post if the plugin updates your social network sites those sites could ban your account for posting the same content repeatedly.

Status.net

Web Traffic Genius EDITOR’S CHOICE
Creates an RSS feed for each blog post and submits it to about 20 RSS directories. You can also have it include additional URL’s in the RSS feed. You can specify which URL’s you want included and how many (it use a random number within a range you specify). This is helpful for a couple reasons, it provides additional backlinks to other pages (even non WordPress pages) and some RSS directories don’t accept feeds with only one item. This is a great way to get deep links to your blog posts on auto pilot. You can also schedule to create and submit RSS feeds for existing posts which is a nice feature. Highly recommended.

RSS Bomber
Automatically creates an RSS feed for every blog post and emails you the feed URL so you can submit it to RSS directories. This is a little more work than the Web Traffic Genius plugin but the plugin is cheaper and you can submit the feed to over 100 directories using RSS Submit (Web Traffic Genius only submits the feed to about 20 directories – and doesn’t provide you with the feed). To get $20 off, exit the page and click “cancel” on the exit pop-up.
